SDG 12 Responsible Consumption And Production

Sustainable Consumption is the use of services and related products which respond to human needs and bring a better quality of life. Sustainable Production is the creation of goods and services using processes and systems that are non-polluting, that conserve and preserve energy and natural resources, that are economically viable, safe and healthy for workers and consumers, and that are socially and creatively rewarding. The University has healthcare domains viz: medical, dental, nursing, physiotherapy and allied healthcare, hence biomedical waste management (BMW) sustainability isn’t just a buzzword: it’s a long-term thinking and responsible action have always been fundamental to the healthcare management. The BMW guidelines by Tamil Nādu state Pollution Control Board is strictly being followed up by healthcare institutions of the University. Various biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste is being taken care by different committees of the university which further take steps to convert this waste in to biofuels and recycles materials leads to sustainable production. University is finding tailored zero waste solutions by proving ZERO PLASTIC campaign in campus. The campaigns and training workshops are being conducted regularly to raise awareness and getting employees and staff on board to reduce and separate food waste.
